The Luis Puig Velodrome hosts a powerful opening ceremony of the IV Valencia Cup Girls 2024
More than 2,000 people, including 800 soccer players from 40 teams from six countries and two continents, who are competing in the women's international grassroots soccer tournament, attended the start of the sporting event.
The IV Valencia Cup Girls experienced a powerful, exciting and vibrant Opening ceremony at the Luis Puig Velodrome. More than two thousand people, including the 800 soccer players who will compete between March 29 and 31 in the city of Turia, experienced an afternoon from the stands of the municipal sports venue with the focus on welcoming the players who will enjoy the background sporting and experiential nature of this international women's grassroots soccer tournament.
This ceremony, which began with the parade of the 40 registered teams, representatives of six countries (United States, Canada, Norway, Austria, Italy and Spain), and the presentation of all these teams on stage, also had two special moments linked to football figures. First, tribute was paid to the World champions of last summer of 2023, with the Spanish team comprising players such as Ivana Andrés, the Valencian captain who won the first World title in the history of the absolute Spanish women's team, the Albacete striker and captain of the Levante, Alba Redondo, and Moncada goalkeeper Enith Salón, from Valencia CF.
Alba and Enith were present at this ceremony and received plaques in tribute to their World Cup achievement. The two soccer players encouraged the tournament players to pursue their dreams and enjoy the tournament.
Linked to this, a new edition of the 'Referentes' match was presented, which also has the support of Teika. An exhibition match that is part of the tournament and is a tribute and recognition to the first great references and pioneers of women's football towards the present times. The Inauguration was a prelude to the moment in which the ball starts rolling from this same Friday, March 29 to Sunday, March 31. Two and a half days in which a total of 92 matches will be played to complete the four age categories (G12 for 8-a-side football and G14, G16 and G19 for 11-a-side football), in addition to match 93 corresponding to the 'Referents', which They will be developed in five municipal facilities. Four of the playing fields are located in the old bed of the Turia River (Serranos, Pont de Fusta, Punte de la Expósito and Tramo II) and the Dr. Lluch field in the Marítim district, where the duel of the 'Referentes' will be played. This 2024 will be the fourth edition and the international barrier is clearly broken, one of the objectives of the organization for the present and future. The numbers are clear: seven countries from three continents and 40 squads will enter the fray. The Rush Select Girls (United States) will compete in Valencia with two teams; Canada's Venus FC; Heming FK and Lyndamer FK from Norway; Austria's First Vienna; and the BS Soccer Team Fasano of Italy from outside the Spanish borders.
In addition, clubs from Navarra such as UD Mutilvera, which also participates with five teams, and TEC Academy from Barcelona, with two, will compete in the city of Turia in the IV Valencia Cup Girls.
The Valencian Community will be represented with Levante UD, which defends the overall title of the tournament, having been the absolute champion in the three previous editions, Valencia CF, CDFB L'Eliana, Atlético Vallbonense, CD Serranos (host of one of the tournament playing fields), the CFF Ciutat de Mislata, the CFF Marítim (in whose facility matches will also be played), the CFF Torrent L'Horta Sud, the Mislata CF, the UD Paterna, the UE L'Alcudia or the Ciutat d'Alzira FB.
